What brings you joy? Planning joy in your day is important but we often don’t even think about it. Planning joy in your day means that joy will come. If you just plan work, you’ll burn-out. In the end of the day there needs to be something that makes you ’selfishly smile’ - because you have had a joyful day.

I am most probably paraphrasing Michelle Obama very badly here but the point - planning joy in your day - resonates very deeply with me. If you don’t plan joy, and you burn-out, no-one will benefit. As a parent or a partner your nearest and dearest suffer, as a worker or an entrepreneur your livelihood, purpose and mission suffer. But having selfishly planned joy, you’ll ensure everyone and everything else also benefit and thrive.

I am curious if you already plan your joy and what brings you joy.

For me? Children bring me joy. The animals and nature bring me joy. Dancing and being silly, intimacy, a sneaky chocolate... Friends, colleques and communities bring me joy. Sharing and co-creating bring me joy big time! As Julia Roberts says, sharing vulnerably is extremely powerful and courageous. There is no need to be perfect, it is not about achievement. But it is about holding oneself high and with love - and choosing to believe that there is a better day.
