There you are, working hard, juggling life.
Trying to stay focused. So many distractions.
So much competing for your attention.
Living in the information age has created Information Overload.
While I doubt that’s been officially labeled a medical diagnosis, this phenomena needs to be addressed.
2 things that work for me to stay focused and less stressed with info overload:
1) CREATING A SPECIFIC LEARNING PLAN
Setting a specific plan for what I want to learn. I’m a learner and so curious so I can get perpetually distracted with the INFORMATION available to me. It can lead you in a tailspin and keep you from actually taking action. And you can’t master what matters most to you if your spinning in circles. (If you’re doing the Goals and Planner workshop with me - you’ll be creating a learning plan for 2020 to help you learn and master specific knowledge - with lots of time for free exploration).
2) PUSHING THE PAUSE BUTTON
Taking time to pause the pace-of-race gives your mind and body the rest and quiet space for reflection. To keep doing the same thing - you know this - is insanity. Serenity and sanity and satisfaction come from pausing for reflection and taking time to recalibrate so you can move forward with renewed spirits, restored energy, and more focus.
Hit the pause button.
Before the new year + every quarter + every month.
To make meaningful changes to feel good and live in alignment with what matters most - pause weekly.
Because as Annie Dillard says, “How you spend your days is how you spend your life.”
