Hi there. I'm Monique Bradley and I was born with a million words inside my body. It took me many years to understand that my understanding of words and their power was part of my genius. They can impact us both within and without......
Today I shared a picture from the Rock Horror Picture show with a quote that says 'Don't dream it, be it'.
More than 20 years ago, excitable me was finishing university (I studied theatre and film, literature, language and music) and was desperate to be a professional actor or tv presenter.
I hadn’t had much luck to be honest. I’d done a bit of amateur theatre and loved it, but I wanted more.
I remember watching ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ and sitting there singing along. I must have seen it a thousand times.
This one time I watched it was different.
The last song ‘Don’t dream it......Be it....’ seemed to roll around in my head. I repeated it over and over again.
I remember suddenly saying out loud ‘I AM A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR’. The next day I was offered my first professionally paid acting job.
Pretty crazy huh? The power of language and intention is a formidable force and something I attribute to many successes I’ve had in my life to date: My health transformation, my 40+ kilo weight loss, my career.... it all started with verbalising my intentions out loud, and it’s worked like a charm.
So my thought for today: if you’re at a bit of a roadblock, consider how you talk about it, and how often. In my experience, shifting your focus to your desired outcome - as if it’s happened - helps you start moving again and if the front door ain’t open, you’ll learn to climb through a window.
Don’t dream it, be it.
Thanks Frank ‘N’ Furter for such penetrating wisdom
