As I have mentioned before information is not the issue, we have information overload.

Understanding how to implement it to achieve your goals is really what many people have been missing.

And it’s not their fault.

The people that know, know and the people that don’t, don’t.

But when you know this and implement it consistently.

It’s a game changer. Period.

It originated in the East and many western companies came across it in the factories of Toyota in Japan.

Philosophically it is called Kaizen in Japan.

In a nutshell, the art of continuous improvement.

It is what forms the basis of a whole new way of project management known as Agile and is epitomised by SCRUM.

But today I want to break it down into what I refer to as the Implementation Cycle.

The implementation cycle should ideally be present in every facet of your business as an entrepreneur and dare I say it your life!

But let’s stick to business.

The implementation cycle consists of:

Vision-------->Take Action----------> Get Feedback ------------> Adjust Vision --------> Take Adjusted Action

And so on.

Seems obvious and simple, but it is surprising how rare it is to be found.

Many people get stuck in the different stages.

Some people are dreamers.

They love dreaming and getting excited.

But then...get excited about the next shiny object.

Never progressing beyond the vision phase.

For the people that make it to the taking action stage.

They can spend months if not years completing the foundational actions trying to get everything absolutely perfect.

And are exhausted when the journey has just begun.

For others that make it to the point where they have acted. They get their first negative feedback in the form of no results for example and that finishes them.

For the remaining few that keep on going. They try a few times round the implementation cycle and they get demoralised and give up.

Some people take months to do one revolution of the implementation cycle and hence it may take them years to do enough turns of the cycle to get meaningful results.

And so you see.

How such a simple cycle can have so many casualties.

And guess who wins?

The ones who keep on executing the cycle until they get statistically significant feedback and they adjust and execute the cycle again and again rapidly until they achieve the result.

And they apply the cycle in all areas of their business.

Not restricted to but including, Leadership, Marketing, Sales, Product, Systems, Customer Support and Feedback etc

It is this cycle that allows small startups to disrupt whole industries.

It is the slow implementation cycles which can toll the death knell of big corporations.

And if you want a simple but poignant example of how a single mother took this to become a billionaire then look no further than JK Rowling.

Who was rejected by 12 publishers before she was accepted.

Or the producers of Angry Birds who made a new app every week for 52 weeks and failed every time until they tried for the 53rd time and made Angry Birds.

Hence, there’s a whole series of concepts for navigating the implementation side of entrepreneurship.

Which frankly many entrepreneurs are oblivious to.

There are many more elements to the implementation culture that help to smooth the path, get to the goal quicker and often differentiate between the success stories and the failures.

I hope this serves as another step in this critical area to succeeding as an entrepreneur.
