There are a multitude of ways to raise funds.
Some are regulatory stipulated, others are not.
In one breath someone can say ... We are going to "crowdfund" or We are going to do an ICO or We are going to issue a prospectus.
Each of these have a different pathway and different regulations. The more regulations the more cost and friction involved. The above diagram clearly outlines the different pathways. On the left we have choices that are low cost and time efficient. On the right we have choices that take longer and cost more.
Different regulations apply for each pathway but the above picture should give you a good contextual feel as to where each of the choices fit.
