3 years ago Paul Avins was fighting for financial survival at the cost of his health, leading to a near-fatal asthma attack. Today, he’s in flow with his company Team Dynamics, as the No.1 Global Partner of Talent Dynamics.
Is your lack of flow affecting your health?
In 2014, Paul realised he was really out of flow after getting trained as a Flow Consultant. “I had spent 4 years building a business that was totally not in my flow”.
Shortly after he became accredited as a Wealth Dynamics Performance Consultant, he got clear on what he wanted to do differently. “I knew what I wanted to do, but I was under so much stress. I had been out of flow for nearly 5 years, doing everything that wasn’t in my Wealth Dynamics profile, I was fighting for financial survival and my asthma was the worst it had been in 27 years”.
That Sunday, Paul had a serious asthma attack that ended in a heart attack. He was clinically dead for 4 minutes before the paramedics brought him back to life. “It was in that moment that I decided to only do things I enjoyed doing.”
“I had to heal and recover, but I quickly decided that I wanted to help my clients build high performing teams. Without the highly skilled paramedic team that worked together to save me, I wouldn’t be alive today”.
The first thing Paul decided to do was shut down elements of his businesses that were out of flow, to get focused at what he enjoyed doing.
The next step he took was to start building a high performance team.
There’s no I in Team
“A team saved my life and being out of flow almost killed me. I didn’t realise that until I did the Performance Consultant training. I had been completely building the wrong business for 5 years."
Paul decided he needed to build a team with people from different parts of the Wealth Dynamics square - to cover each of the four Geniuses, so the team would work well together, and create flow. Paul is a Creator profile with Dynamo Genius, so he found a Blaze, a Tempo and a Steel Genius and together they built Team Dynamics.
Getting Focused
With a clear brand in place, companies wanted to work with Team Dynamics and learn how to build high-performing teams in their businesses. Paul’s focus on teams targeted a niche that created high demand, and allowed him to get in flow doing what he enjoyed.
“If you’re a dynamo out of flow, it kills everything you live for - the creativity, the vibrancy, the excitement. I was trying to outrun what I had created, not riding the wave but trying to outrun it. It’s a heck of a lot easier to just learn to go with the wave.”
Today, Paul is surfing the wave. He believes that understanding the value of the talent in a team, leads to trust within a company, and trust leads to employee retention and overall company success.
“If you’re going to build a high performing team, you have to know people's talents. In our strategy, the tip of the arrow is talent dynamics, and our niche is teams. Our clients have between 20 and 200 people on their teams, and that’s where we go play."
Paul’s team is in high demand, following his flow and using Talent Dynamics to get the teams he works with into their flow. Paul became a Global Partner of the Entrepreneurs Institute and Team Dynamics is now the top global user of Talent Dynamics, with a mission of helping 100,000 companies get in flow with their teams to become more successful.
Paul is now healthy, in flow, and is in high demand as a business coach since he found his flow and learnt to follow it.
