I ran a successful part-time suburban tree pruning and removal business here in Brisbane for about twenty years, during part of which time I also completed a degree in IT.   Then, for a variety of reasons I decided to get out of the tree business for a while.

After listening to Roger's wisdom about maintaining our "Clark Kent" job while completing our "Superman" project, I've decided to revive my suburban tree business, at least until my "Superman" project is generating consistent positive cashflow.   So, now I'm looking for a part-time business partner.   Here's the story...

It will be a mentored, profit-sharing opportunity for the right person.   At first the time involvement will be intermittent until word gets around that we are back in the business, but the work will become more regular in a relatively short period of time.   Unlike other suburban tree pruning operations which tend to be very seasonal, I also specialise in palm tree cleaning, which is an all- year-round event.   I do not intend to allow it to become a full-time activity, so the days on which we work will be negotiable.   If you already have a mowing, gardening or rubbish removal business, this could provide some handy extra income, as well as introductions to prospective new customers.

If you are the right person, you will live in Brisbane, preferably on the north side; you will be a reliable, punctual, fit male or female, who enjoys a bit of hard work; you will own a reliable vehicle and will have access to a box trailer between 6ft X 4ft and 7ft X 5ft in size, preferably without a cage; you will be safety conscious and teachable.

Our relationship will be one of contractor and subcontractor, not of employer and employee.   My role will be to climb trees and do the required pruning or felling and whatever cutting up is necessary on the ground.   Your role will be collection of the cuttings and removal to the nearest dump or transfer station, and general tidy-up on the ground.   You will not be required to climb trees or supply or use chainsaws.

Initially the arrangementt will pay about $45 an hour while we're "forming and norming", but the hourly rate will get better as our working relationship develops and we get faster at what we do.   You will also learn some interesting stuff about horticulture and working with rope.   Over the years I have developed some techniques and procedures not known or used by anyone else in the industry.
