The truth is, we’re hurtling through space at thousands of miles an hour. Buckminster Fuller said we’re all crew on spaceship earth – we’re all fellow astronauts.
How (when we all awaken to this truth) should we really be living and working? This video is from a very special place – it’s called an “Earthship” and is a part of the largest sustain-able community in the world, in Taos, New Mexico.
This is “the Phoenix”, Mike Reynold’s showcase Earthship. All Earthships are off-the-grid and self-sufficient, with their own power, water, food and everything you need to live at zero cost.

What happens when we’re all being guardians of this spaceship, and technology helps us catch up to this truth? What happens when you don’t need money to live? It may not be that far in the future (and for a growing number people that future is already here).
Buckminster Fuller said:
“We should do away with the absolutely specious notion that everybody has to earn a living. It is a fact today that one in ten thousand of us can make a technological breakthrough capable of supporting all the rest. The youth of today are absolutely right in recognizing this nonsense of earning a living.
We keep inventing jobs because of this false idea that everybody has to be employed at some kind of drudgery because, according to Malthusian Darwinian theory he must justify his right to exist. So we have inspectors of inspectors and people making instruments for inspectors to inspect inspectors.
The true business of people should be to go back to school and think about whatever it was they were thinking about before somebody came along and told them they had to earn a living.
What work would you do if it’s not about the money? As a fellow astronaut, what is the work you were put here on Spaceship Earth to do – that allows you to be your best self? Start from there, and master that. As for the money, if you do that, the money will come.
