NANBA is the Art of Physical Finesse. As you adapt to a lifestyle working from home, it is easy to fall into a sedentary existence. Even before the COVID-19 Crisis, the Mayo Clinic announced that Sitting is the New Smoking, and that a prolonged periods of sitting could lead to numerous health risks often associated with smoking. However the advice given was limited to taking a break, walking on a treadmill, or to build standing into your working routine. Not particularly inspiring. 

NANBA is the Japanese Art of Physical Finesse. It is rooted in the Japanese traditional martial and performing arts, the movements of farmers and craftsmen before mass mechanization, and has been applied in modern times by professional jazz and classical musicians as well as Olympic Athletes. 

NANBA gives you a simple way to bring mind and body back into balance and flow, and help you engage fully in your life.

What led me to NANBA was in fact a deep dive into Japanese Language in Culture, now approaching 5 decades since I first came to Japan in 1972. Fast forward nearly 50 years, and I am a long-time resident of Japan, a bilingual Japanologist, an 8th-degree black belt in Aikido, a 10th-dan in Shodo (Brush Calligraphy), a Special Shihan in Nanba Justsu, a student of IAIDO, and a Professor of all of these things at the International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA) near Mt. Fuji, and conducting online courses and coaching. I am also a regular television and radio commentator, with numerous appearances as a navigator for documentaries on Samurai Culture, twice a TEDx Speaker, and a Certified Coach of World Class Speaking.
