Do you and your family still want to see the world, but know you can’t because you are in lockdown? Are you looking for something new and exciting to do as a family at n affordable price?

Many of us had travel plans we were looking forward to, and now we are all stuck, and plans have had to be cancelled, or put on hold.

But the fun and excitement of preparing for a holiday and experiencing the sites, sounds and taste of foreign countries can still happen from the comfort of your own home.

Children love the adventure of travel and learning about new places. This is fantastic to do as a family and is educational too without the children realizing it!

It only works if parents fully immerse themselves and their children in the play acting, so take time off from your work, worry and daily lives to have this amazing bonding experience as a family.

BUT, let the children lead and take the adventure where they want it to go. If you facilitate and they lead, they will remember it forever.

Targeted at children aged 4 – 14.

If you do not have children in that age group, it can make a great present for friends and family, especially as school holidays are approaching.

How it works

The holiday adventure works over three days

Day 1 – Planning and Preparation Day

⛱ As a family you decide what you want to do on your holiday

⛱ Use the resources provided (and any you want to add)

⛱ Research what there is to do at your destination

⛱ Decide on your itinerary

⛱ Work out the roles each person will play

⛱ Plan the costumes for each role

⛱ Each person focuses on something that interests them and researches it e.g. what the weather is like, currency, people etc.

⛱ Be inventive and repurpose what you have in the house

⛱ Get together your passports, money, tickets and travel guides

⛱ Pack your suitcases and don't forget your camera

Day 2 – Enjoy the experience

✈️ Set up each room as a different part of the adventure e.g. airport or train station, airplane, hotel reception, hotel rooms, restaurant, beach, Island tour etc.

✈️ Leave the house and lock up (ask your neighbours to wave you goodbye).

✈️ If possible, re-enter through a different door and into the airport

✈️ Go through the check-in process, there may even be some duty-free shops to buy your goodies for the plane

✈️ Travel on the airplane to your destination, have a pilot and cabin crew to assist

✈️ Reach your destination and transfer to the hotel for check in

✈️ Have some local food for lunch, then off on an adventure, maybe visit the beach or the pool, have some mocktails and snacks and see some sites.

✈️ Get changed in your hotel rooms for the evening

✈️ Zoom call friends and family to tell them about your adventure

✈️ Maybe the ‘hotel’ and restaurant have been transformed with fairy lights or other décor for the evening.

✈️ Have a locally themed dinner and then watch a movie, play a game or take a walk.

✈️ Finally retire to bed and just maybe there is a chocolate on the pillow & the bed is turned down!

Day 3 – Return home

🚕 Pack your bags

🚕 Check out the hotel, leave the hotel and go to the airport

🚕 Fly home (different pilot and cabin crew)

🚕 Leave the airport and re-enter your home through the front door

🚕 Children can then draw pictures or write about their adventure while the parents put the house back to normal!!!!

🚕 Make up a photo album using photobox or similar app.

🚕 Tell others about your adventure and send us a picture of you in your costumes for inclusion in our gallery of happy adventurers.
